"FOR LOVE OF JULIAN" is a unique and personal documentary about multiply handicapped, profoundly brain injured children. Using candid, in depth interviews with parents and professionals along with striking visual documentation, a window is opened into an unfamiliar world.

The central objective of "For Love of Julian" is to ensure that the next time a stranger meets a child  with multiple handicaps, they will not look away but rather into the eyes of a human being, staring across a divide no longer.
Ultimately,  "For Love of Julian" is about appreciating what one has and making of life what one can.

Production on "For Love of Julian" began in 1992 when Julian was  three years old. Over the next seven years, five other families with multiply handicapped children became a part of the film. In addition to the families, two schools are featured for their exemplary work in the field of education for the disabled. Marcene Johnson of  The Brookside School defines the importance of early intervention while Patrick Dollard and other faculty at The Center For Discovery illustrate the need for innovative and radical reforms in the way society deals with the disabled.

Director, Meira Blaustein was fortunate to work with filmmakers who were willing to donate their time and expertise. Executive Producer, Denise Kasell (now Executive Director of The Hamptons International Film festival) quickly found filmmakers to begin production on what was to become a 'labor of love'.

Fundraising was critical to offset the enormous costs associated with the documentary's production. Donations were solicited through Circum-Arts Foundation; a non-profit sponsor. Major contributors included the Peter S. Reed Foundation, The Berman Family and The Georgen Foundation.

Distribution efforts are being directed in many directions. The film will be entered into domestic and international film festivals. Additionally, the film is under consideration with several educational and broadcast distributors. Two versions (52 & 67 minutes) are available.
